Hands on History: Pattern Drafting Sleeves photo
Guided by Alice and Lilia from Alice & Co, this one-day, hands-on workshop will immerse you in the world of sleeve design. The day will begin with an introduction to the archive and the opportunity to see historical sleeve examples up close, exploring how shapes have developed through the eras and into the present. Alice and Lilia will then expertly guide you through the foundational skills of pattern manipulation. They'll teach you all you need to know to create your own sleeve pattern designs, giving you the tools to add impact to existing outfits or upgrade your dressmaking patterns. You’ll work in quarter-scale, learning how to creatively manipulate paper pattern blocks to shape silhouettes, structures, and styles through fabric-free experimentation. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, you’ll leave with a fresh perspective, and the knowledge to bring sleeves to life in your own work.

This workshop is ideal for complete beginners as well as those looking to refresh their skills. All materials provided; suitable for ages 18 and over.
